Take the jump to see what madness will be happening.
The Walking Dead Escape - Live The Apocalypse will take place at Petco Park, right across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. A huge section of the structure will be under zombie infestation and you will need to avoid becoming infected. Groups will be sent through every 20 minutes to see who can survive the outbreak. (No weapons allowed.) Here's a small look at the map.
The official website gives more details about what to expect.
Survival is Not a Race
The average time of completion is 35-45 minutes.
The Walking Dead Escape is not a race. No one is timed, and you are not required to run, but the slow usually die for a reason.
Be prepared to climb, crawl, and slide.
Depending on the encountered Walker, you may need to move briskly or lightly jog in an effort to avoid infection.
Hiding is recommended if confronted with a Walker horde.
Move swiftly the end is near.
The Evacuation Route will feature multiple obstacles such as cargo nets and rope bridges.
No one will be disqualified if they are unable to complete a certain obstacle, but it may heighten the risk of infection.
The goal is to make it to the Evacuation Zone without having contact with any Walkers.
Be aware, the Government believes infection can be spread by touch.
Government Scientists will be waiting at the Evacuation Zone, and will perform a scan to determine whether or not participants have been infected by the virus.
Now that you're totally excited about what to expect, you should know that this is NOT an official part of Comic-Con. To take part in the madness it will cost you $70. (Calm down.)
There are a limited number of spaces available, so if you want to see if you have what it takes to survive you should head to www.thewalkingdeadescape.com to buy your spot now. There will also be a ticket you can purchase if you just want to be a spectator. There is no current price on that. On the website you can also submit your name to waiting list if you are looking to be one of the many walking dead that they will need.
If you're a survivor, or walker, you will receive an exclusive special edition of The Walking Dead's 100th issue. Spectators will receive a poster of the same 100th issue.
The Walking Dead Escape will run on July 12th from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM, July 13th from 11:00 AM-9:00 PM and July 14th from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM.
Having this experience outside of Comic-Con allows anyone who was not able to buy a ticket to still head to San Diego for some fun. There is always tons to see and do in The Gaslamp during Comic-Con, and this looks like it will only add to the chaotic fun.
