First Official Trailer For 'Les Miserables' Hits The Web

I know, I know...we've been away.  I do apologize for that.  To make up for it I bring you musical goodness.  Just a couple of weeks ago we brought to you a clip for the Les Miserables trailer, which was pulled down after we had posted a link to it.

Universal Studios has now released the official trailer for Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.  Take the jump to watch.

First thing on my mind, Anne....get your Oscar acceptance speech ready.  There was such an emotional subtlety to what you just heard.  The whispered pain of Fantine, who's life has become a nightmare and only wants her daughter (Eponine) to survive.  Those of you that are fans of the stage musical might be wondering why she's not belting the song as you are used to.  Remember, she doesn't have to perform to the back row.  Here she's performing to the camera, and she's doing it brilliantly.

It also appears that she was singing live on set for this number.

While this was only a teaser trailer, it's so great to see flashes of the story that has become so familiar.  Young Eponine afraid in the dark, Valjean looking for redemption, Jarvert desperately hunting a fugitive and the barricade as Hugo truly imagined.

You already know how much we can't wait for this movie, so I won't say it again.  Just know that Les Miserables is directed by Oscar winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech), and it hits theatres this December.

What say you?
