Dust off your Nimbus 2000 and grab your wand because it looks like Harry Potter is coming to Hollywood.
Since the doors to Hogwarts were opened at Universal Studios Orlando's 'Islands of Adventure' theme park, many fans have wondered if the Potterverse would ever come to Universal Studios Hollywood. What many didn't know was that when the original Wizarding World was announced, these plans were already being discussed regarding Hollywood. However, nothing could be said because it had to open in Orlando, and guests had to love it.
Both of these things have happened.
Now the Los Angeles Time and the Wall St. Journal are reporting that an announcement will come within the next few weeks that Harry Potter will be headed to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2015.
Don't get excited about this news just yet. We have heard that it will not be an entire replication of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening in Hollywood. It looks like it will only be the attraction 'Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey' along with a small portion of the Hogsmeade area that will be opening in Hollywood. You may wonder why it won't be the whole thing. The first reason for this is space. Universal Studios Hollywood does not the amount of theme park real estate that Orlando does. Another reason is that Universal Studios still wants people to experience the entire thing in Florida.
While it's not uncommon to have duplicate attractions in theme parks, they do still want to keep certain experiences exclusive to one place. This makes sure that people will enjoy a trip to Hollywood, but still want to head out to Orlando.
The next question is where exactly is this all going to go with the space Hollywood has to work with? While we can not say for sure, it's possible that 'Terminator 2 -3D' could be axed to make way for 'Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey', with some of the Hogsmeade area taking over the current Little London area across from Terminator. This could include the Irish pub across the way becoming The Three Broomsticks, which would serve up Butterbeer. These locations are all unconfirmed, but all speculation points to this area.
We'll let you know as soon as the details are confirmed by Universal Studios Hollywood.
What say you?
