'Phineas and Ferb' Movie Getting 'Toy Story 3' Writer

The Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb has been a huge hit for the network.  Not just for The Disney Channel, but also for music and merchandise sales for Disney as a whole.  Earlier this year Disney aired the made-for-tv movie Phineas and Ferb: Across The 2nd Dimension to 8 million viewers.  Those numbers solidified for the Mouse House that there was definitely an audience for a theatrical movie as well.

Today the Los Angeles Times broke the news that Oscar winning writer Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) is working on a draft of the script for the feature.  Phineas and Ferb creators Swampy Marsh and Dan Povenmire wrote the original script for the movie.  According to the article, the feature will combine live action with animation.

While it's not mentioned, we can expect the movie to also be filled with plenty of songs.  Each week the animated series introduces a new song, that is usually as funny as the dialogue and quite often makes fun of pop culture at the same time.

If you still have not watched the series, I HIGHLY recommend you catch it.  You will appreciate the episode 'Nerds of a Feather', where the boys head off to their local sci-fi convention.

The Phineas and Ferb movie is scheduled for a summer 2013 release.

What say you?
