Just a couple of weeks ago everyone was stunned at the news that Netflix was spinning their DVD service off in to a separate company called Qwikster. As quickly as that news came out, the complaints from customers was even quicker. Today Netflix announced that Qwikster was an incredibly stupid idea and they are grasping at straws now that studios are pulling out of deals with them and customers are leaving in droves. (I'm paraphrasing.)
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said in a press release:
"Consumers value the simplicity Netflix has always offered and we respect that. There is a difference between moving quickly -- which Netflix has done very well for years -- and moving too fast, which is what we did in this case."
There is no official word about what will happen with their plans to add video game rentals. They could possibly use Qwikster for this.
What say you?
