In case you haven't heard, Comic-Con is coming up in just a little over a week. That means that fangirls and fanboys are studying the programming schedule to plan out what panels to wait in line for, should they even go near Hall H Thursday when Twilight will be in there, or if there will be time to try and get that one autograph they've been dying to get.
For many, the Comic-Con experience is something that they wait all year for. Kind of a nerd summer camp. That group includes us. Ever since last year we have been trying to figure out how we can give back to all of you that have made this past year at POParitaville so successful. Our intention was to host our first ever off-site event and open it up to everyone to attend. We had special guests lined up and entertainment you would have talked about all year. We even teased this event on Twitter and Facebook.
Sadly, due to circumstances beyond our control we had to cancel this plan just a couple of weeks ago. This was a hard choice to make. In doing this we still wanted a way to give back to you. So, just like last year, we have some fan-freakn-tastic prizes to giveaway.
The good people at Gumdrop Cases, Hard Candy Cases and Fanny Wang Headphones are loading us up with items to give out. Expect daily giveaways of cases for your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Macbook Air. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will give out a pair of Fanny Wang headphones to one lucky person.
That's not it! The great people at Comikaze Expo are giving us posters to give out along with tickets to Comikaze Expo. This coming November is the first Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles and it promises to be an event that every fanperson will want to be a part of.
We are also working with others who will be providing us with more great prizes to give out. So keep coming back to see what is new.
On Twitter, be sure to use the hash #POPpedatSDCC to keep up with what's going on. Save that hash so that you can filter through your timeline and be on top of things. We will all be tweeting during Comic-Con. Go to our Contact Us page to make sure you're following the entire POP Patrol on Twitter.
What? You say you want more? Sure! On preview night (Wednesday) we are planning a tweetup! Head to Las Hadas restaurant at 558 4th Street at 8:00 PM to meet some members of The POP Patrol and our fellow geek pals. The first five (5) people to find us there will not only get POP Gear, but the first round is on us! It will be a great time to warm up to what is sure to be a great weekend.
But how on earth will you be able to win these prizes?
First, you need to be following us on Twitter or Facebook. That is where we will be giving out daily clues as to what you need to do to win - and where to find us. We'll post clues, send you on a scavenger hunt, or even just post a picture to help you find your way along. Second, let us know you're a fan. Just like last year, somewhere that is visible write, "I follow @POParitaville," on yourself. Last year we saw it on foreheads and poster containers. If a member of The POP Patrol spots you we'll say hi. We may have a cool prize for you, or just a high five of appreciation. Give it a shot and see what happens. Plus, you can bond with other fans as they see that you like to get POPped. (HA! See what I did there??)
I can't even begin to tell you how excited we are about Comic-Con. We love meeting all of you when we're out covering events. We can't wait to meet more of you.
The out pouring of love and support from all of you is tremendous. This is our little way of being able to give back and say, "Thanks pally!"
We'll see you at Las Hadas!
