For the troops - Operation 'Geek and Awe' has started

SSG Sam Knight
This past weekend I had the pleasure of chatting online with one of our fans, SSG Sam Knight, currently stationed in Iraq with the U.S. Army's 1st Battalion - 140th Aviation Regiment A Company.  The Phantoms  fly big helicopters with big guns.  He was eager to hear about what's coming up at E3 and how Game of Thrones on HBO is.  He mentioned what a huge fan of the books he is and he's eager to see the show.

During our talk I realized that I am in no way qualified to be a soldier except in Call of Duty - and even that's questionable.  He said he loved hearing about every thing coming up and it seemed like it was a nice distraction.

We want to do more to help distract him.  Just like soldiers take care of each other, geeks like to do the same thing.

Operation 'Geek and Awe' is now in effect.

We are putting together a care package for Sam and his fellow soldiers with all things geek.  We are going to load it with things like comics, video games, books, DVD's, collectibles.  What ever we can get our hands on.  While we will be able to gather some of these things, it won't be to the level that we would like it to be and they deserve.  If you would like to help, please email us at: POParitaville(at)POParitaville(dot)com.  If you are not able to send an item, even a letter to them would be fantastic to include.  Let us know what you would like to do.  We are not asking for money for this and will not accept any.

This is the very least we can do on this Memorial Day for a brave group of men and ladies.  We hope that you'll join us.  Please share this with your fellow geeks and fanboys.

No geek left behind.
