Theme Park News: Scoring 'Ariel's Undersea Adventure'

This summer will be a very competitive time for theme parks in Southern California.

Six Flags is looking to bring in crowds with their re-vamped Superman attraction.  Universal Studios Hollywood is changing up their famous Studio Tour by adding Jimmy Fallon in to the mix.

Disney is looking to dominate by opening two major attractions on the same weekend. They are scheduled to open the re-imagined Star Tours at Disneyland, and just across the esplanade at Disney's California Adventure The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure.

We've already gotten a glimpse at some of the animatronics developed for the ride.  Today we see some behind the scenes of the team working on the musical score for the attraction.

The music of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken is really what propelled this movie in to classic status.  Their themes were fun and haunting at the same time.  It's great to see that the Imagineer's knew that the music is incredibly important for this attraction.  Just like Star Tours or the Indiana Jones Adventure, if people know the music by heart, it has to be just right.  And the last thing you want to do is upset an Annual Passholder.  Trust me.  No good can come of it.

The POP Patrol will be at The Disneyland Resort to cover opening weekend.  Let us know if you will be too.

What say you?
