It’s the weekend and it’s Spring Break! What to do? What to do? It’s time to hang out with Spring Break Live at Universal City Walk!Entertainment Director Pat Donahue has been scouring town for new music. Every Friday night through April 29th up-and-coming bands are going head to head in KIIS FM’s Wango Tango Break-Out Star Competition. The winners will play live at the annual summertime concert extravaganza.
Last year’s winners – Later Days – were on hand at the Spring Break Live kick-off party held April 1st at the Hard Rock Café at Universal CityWalk. Their acoustic set really understated the rocking power this alternative band’s sound. Their debut album “Don’t Forget the Name” is available now on iTunes. Be sure to give “I Don’t Know One Thing” a good listen!
Bryan Hopkins, of CityWalk favorite Paperback Heroes, stopped by for a quick set with Lifehouse guitarist Ben Carey. The band will be hosting a Red Carpet Video Premiere at the House of Blues Hollywood on Wednesday, April 27th. The band’s current album, “Cautionary Tale” is available on iTunes and Amazon music. Bryan’s vocals weave every song into a story you can’t stop listening to. My favorite? “Lullaby”
After some delicious bites from the Hard Rock Café, it was time to hear from the headlining band of the evening… Rey Fresco. Some of the band’s loyal followers made the trek to CityWalk from all over Southern California. If someone had ever described the band’s sound to me, I probably would have laughed. But somehow this quartet blends Reggae, Latin, and Soul together with a harp into an infectious sound that gets your feet moving! Yes really… a HARP!!!
But these are just a few bands that will be on the CityWalk Stage. So what are you waiting for? Grab your friends or love and GO! You never know who you might hear!
Also, be sure to check out CityWalk’s “The Awesome Date!” Valet parking, dinner, and a movie for just $25 per person.
With the weather just right everybody wants to go out and have some fun. Lucky for us, CityWalk is providing plenty of choices.
