UPDATED: Disney loads Tom Hanks and Tim Allen for 'The Jungle Cruise' movie

Disney has now confirmed this in a press release:

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.‬

It was reported today by that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen would be teaming with Disney to bring a movie based on Disney's 'Jungle Cruise' attraction to life.  This movie has been tossed around for several years at the mouse house with it never gaining too much traction.  Ever since the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, they have been looking for another ride to turn in to a franchise.  Those ideas fell flat with the original Haunted Mansion movie.
Now we're told that producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Fighter) are on board with a script to be written by Robert S.H. Schulman, who was recently a writer for Jonas.  So, that's exciting....right?

While the duo of Hanks and Allen have worked well with their voices, we'll see if it matches up in a live action movie.  I do hope that this movie can deliver the silliness that used to abound on the attraction because it does hold a very special place in my heart.  Why is that?  Take a look at yours truly:

Yup, I was a Jungle Cruise skipper.

What say you?

  1. Oh Jungle Jesse. Jungle Ginger has a bad feeling about this one. I am not quite sure (as much as I love them both) Tom Hanks and Tim Allen can pull this off. Of course I also hope for the best since the Jungle Cruise is near and dear to me as well. I shall keep my fingers crossed.

  2. Jungle Cruise Forever!! Let's hope they do us proud!
