Yesterday evening, the Visual Effects Society announced their winners for the 9th Annual VES Awards. Among many categories there were winners you expected to hear, including 'Inception', 'The Pacific', and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1'. But there was one that stood out. Universal Studios Hollywood received an award for their newest attraction 'King Kong 360 3-D' in the category of Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue. And it is a special venue indeed.
For those of you that have yet to experience it, you have got to check it out. 'King Kong 360 3-D' is a part of the famous Studio Tour and presented, you guessed it, in 3D and 360 degrees. This was created for the Studio Tour after a fire that destroyed the metro sets, also destroyed the original King Kong attraction. Academy Award winning Director Peter Jackson then over saw production of the new Kong attraction, wanting to bring it to a new level.
His vision seems to have had the right touch.
The VES Awards will be broadcast on ReelzChannel February 19th.
