UPDATED: Hide your Scientologists, Ricky Gervais asked to host Golden Globes again

As much as some celebrities (mainly Judd Apatow) and a handful of journalists (suck ups) did not care for Ricky Gervais jokes at the Golden Globes this year, guess what kids?  They have asked Ricky to come back next year.  That's right...hide yo' addicts, hide yo' in-the-closet Scientologists cause Ricky may be back up in here.  The question is will he actually come back.

Ricky has already said that if he was asked to return that he wouldn't.  He confirmed in a running diary with Heat World that Golden Globe organizers asked him to consider returning for a third time.  On this Ricky said:
"I don't think I should.  I don't know what I could do better.  I certainly couldn't get more press for them, that's for sure."
He's probably kidding about not being able to get them more press.  With ratings being their highest with him hosting, and his job being talked about by everyone...bringing Gervais back would bring the Globes their highest ratings ever.  And while he may not like the idea of returning right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see him return.  If just to see people squirm at the site of him walking on stage at the opening, wondering if they will be his next target.

Come back Ricky!

What say you?

UPDATE: According, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk, has commented on this report and said, "There is no truth to this rumor.  We have not asked Ricky to come back."

A spokesperson for Ricky issued a statement as well:
“Ricky is horrified that people think that he had said the HFPA had requested him back. He never said this. He said that the show’s organisers, in this case — NBC, called him and said he should not rule out a return for a third time.  Ricky at no point mentioned this was the HFPA and called Philip Berk earlier today to explain this to him.”
With it being NBC that asked Ricky to consider coming back, sorry HFPA but NBC would trump your decision.  Especially with the questionable issues that have come up recently (here), I would say that if you still want NBC to broadcast your show, Ricky will probably be back.

What say you?
