POParitaville Favorite Christmas Episodes: 'Seinfeld - The Strike' (aka: Festivus)

Leave it to 'Seinfeld' to create a holiday of their own. But it was all really created by one of the writers dad's long before the show was a hit. There is a great documentary about this that can be found on the shows DVD. In an episode called 'The Strike' we learned of 'Festivus'. There were many a holiday where our own Rabbi Marauder and myself would be in our apartment and joke about when to have the "airing of the grievances." Believe it or not, there are now quite a few people that celebrate Festivus. Even today, CNN did a story about those that do celebrate it. While some have added their own traditions to it, like exchanging gifts (uhh..isn't that, and the faith thing the reason for Festivus?) it really comes down to a few things. First, you'll need to get your Festivus pole. Nothing special, it just has to be aluminum. Then when you gather together you have the airing of grievances. This leads up to the demonstration of feats of strength. While some finished Hanukkah, others get ready for Christmas and Kwanzaa there is "Festivus for the rest of us."
