Today, the 80's Cried..

TheEdley brought the breaking news to all of you here earlier today (and a great tribute), that one of the few writer/directors that really understood teenagers had passed away. John Hughes showed us that someone understood what we were thinking, what we were feeling and didn't talk down to us. He told us that it was okay to be a nerd or a geek (Weird Science, 16 Candles), in love (16 Candles, Pretty in Pink), have an adventure (Ferris Bueller's Day Off), or just be yourself (The Breakfast Club). In a time where most movies about teens were either about them being sex-starved or drug addicted, he showed audiences that..yes, those things were true but there was something more to them. Teenagers had problems, and they were human.

There was something more that he gave audiences. He gave us great movies. Movies that we still quote today. Right now #JohnHughesQuotes is a top trending topic on Twitter. We now give you some great John Hughes moments. I dare you not to smile.

What about you? What are some of your favorite moments and quotes?

  1. Too many quotes to count. Ferris Bueller's Day Off was the movie I watched everytime I stayed home sick from school. I tried to figure out if what he did in a day could actually be done.
Favorite quote (or at least one of 'em)
    "We ate Pancreas!"
Rest in Peace, Mr. Hughes. And Thanks. I know milk will be made available to you up in Heaven.
