Summit Stakes Lefevre; Sinks Fangs Into Howard

Summit Entertainment is reporting a major casting shift for the third film in the Twilight saga, Eclipse. Rachelle Lefevre, who has played Victoria for the firs two films, is being replaced by Bryce Howard (Ron's daughter) for the third.

Perez Hilton has quoted the actress as being "stunned by Summit's decision." The long and the short of it is, Summit required the actress to be completely available for the entire shooting schedule of Eclipse (which is reportedly over 3 months long); Lefevre accepted a role in Barney's Version, a drama based on the novel of the same name (starring Paul Giamatti and Dustin Hoffman) which would require her services for 10 days. Summit didn't want to work around that schedule, so Lefevre was given the stake.

Aside from the fact that it would be Lefevre's agent who would have to work around Eclipse's shooting schedule to get her 10 days on the smaller film, and Summit wouldn't have to worry about anything (I mean, cummon; Michael J. Fox worked almost 24 hours a day for 3 months simultaneously filming Back to the Future and Family Ties), is this a bad thing for the actess? She's leaving a guaranteed blockbuster (gracefully, and not by choice, I might add), to go work with multiple Award winners; how many Academy Award nominations does Robert Pattinson have? This is hardly a career-ender.
