'Bruno' Gets On Top

Sasha Baren Cohen's latest docu-real-omedy, 'Bruno' came in at number one at the box office this weekend with a Sunday estimate of $30.4 million. It knocked out the two week leader of 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' to take the top spot. The weekend's other new release, the under-publicised comedy 'I Love You Beth Cooper' came in at #7. While not breaking any records, it still has done well enough to be considerd a success and will no doubt perform well over seas and on DVD. However will 'Bruno' be the end of this style of comedy for Cohen? As an amazing character actor as he is, theItalicre is almost no way he'll be able to totally get away with this style of movie again. Perhaps if we see his characters again, it'll be in a scripted comedy.

This Wednesday brings us what we can already guess is next weekends #1 movie. 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. This will show Warner Brothers if the HP series still has legs. The current sold out midnight screenings should indicate that fans are ready to don their capes, cloaks and wands with butter beer in hand to welcome Harry back.

Weekend Top 10:

1. "Bruno," $30.4 million.

2. "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," $28.5 million.
