Weekend Box Office

I tried to come up with something clever for the headline, but alas I went for simplicity. This past weekend DreamWorks' 3D animated movie 'Monster's vs. Alien's' dominated the box office easily winning the weekend with an estimated $58.2 million, beating the other new comer 'The Haunting in Connecticut'. DW did a fantastic job of really pushing the 3D aspect of the movie beginning with the Super Bowl ad and then also placing 3D glasses in Entertainment Weekly last week. And it won't end here. There are quite a few movies that will be coming out in 3D this year. Disney/Pixar will be releasing their latest venture 'Up' as well as re-releasing the original 'Toy Story' in 3D later this year. But it's not just animated films, nope! James Cameron brings us 'Avatar' this December in 3D. His first feature film since 'Titanic'. Check out our story from earlier this week to see what the future of 3D holds.
